When my sister died unexpectedly in 2018, my heart was shattered. I completely lost my desire to write. This is one of several pieces that helped me to find my voice again.
Illinois became the first state in the country to require insurance companies to cover medically advised treatments for PANS, PANDAS and similar immune-related encephalopathies. I’m proud to have worked with a fierce group of advocates who championed groundbreaking legislation that addresses the devastating impact of these little-understood conditions.
