Turning Setbacks into Storytelling: Navigating Book Release Delays with Creativity and Resilience

Embracing the unexpected: I'm a first-time author transforming challenges into a unique reading experience

Hey, wonderful readers!

I hope this post finds you well. I come bearing some news about my recently released book, Politics, Partnerships, & Power.

As excited as I am about my first published book’s debut a month ago on 12/19, some unforeseen delays have thrown a curveball into my plans for launch parties and book readings to celebrate the print version of
Politics, Partnerships, & Power.* But hey, life’s all about adapting, right?

Rather than dwelling on what I can't control, I've decided to just keep smiling and turn these lemons into lemonade.

Instead of waiting idly for the print version of my first published book to arrive, I'm diving into my past as a writer, and we’re talking my DEEP PAST. I'll be recording myself on Substack, “reading excerpts” from various pieces I wrote during my earliest days as an author-in-training. I’m calling this effort Thanks For Coming To My Reading! It’ll be quite a departure (to say the least!) from my forthcoming political biography.

Early and awkward faces and hairstyles of a future author:

From the pages of my childhood diaries to notes scribbled to classmates, I'll be sharing the raw and unfiltered snippets that laid the foundation for the writer I am today.

But the nostalgia doesn't end there. I'm even dusting off the first "book" I ever published – back in 6th grade! It's a journey down memory lane that I'm thrilled to take with all of you.

To join me on this adventure, subscribe to my Substack newsletter, where I’ll post my video “readings” for subscribers while waiting for my printed book, Politics, Partnerships, & Power, to come out.

You’ll be the first to know when I drop the “readings”.

Let's make the most of this unexpected twist and celebrate the roots of storytelling that shaped me.

Here's to turning setbacks into stories — and sharing the joy of words with you all!

Warm regards from sub-zero Chicago, and THANKS for being here!

Christine
